Richard was born on May 23rd, 1835 in Liverpool. Richard's father was Patrick Donovan and his mother was Mary Holland. His paternal grandparents are Patrick Donovan and Catherine Kenefeck; his maternal grandparents are JOHN DONOVAN and MARY HOLLAND. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Daniel, Thomas, John, Susanna, Ellen and Julia. He was the third youngest of the seven children. He died at the age of 64 in October 1899 in Liverpool, Lancashire.
